SUMMARY:Behind the Scenes: Central Park Arsenal Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Jonathan Kuhn\, Director of Art and Antiquities at the New York City Parks Department\, for a tour of The Arsenal (1847-1851)including a trip to the roof! The Arsenal\, now the Parks Department headquarters\, the Central Park building has a rich history of past uses\, including a stint as the American Museum of Natural History. The Arsenal was designed by Martin E. Thompson (1786–1877)\, architect of The Second Branch Bank of the United States (1824)\, formerly on Wall Street (now the centerpiece of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art) and The Kellogg Club (1838) in Morristown\, NJ.
